【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoversaprocedureusedtomeasuretheresistancetobendingofpaperswhichareoflowgrammageorhighflexibility,orboth,andwhichexhibitbendingstiffnessintherangefrom0to10Taberstiffnessunits.Thebendingmomentrequiredtodeflectthefreeendofa38-mm(1.5-in.)wideverticallyclampedspecimen15?fromitscenterlinewhentheloadisapplied10mm(0.39in.)awayfromtheclampisdetermined.Theresistancetobendingiscalculatedfromthebendingmoment.TheinstrumentusedinthistestmethodisidenticaltothatdescribedinTestMethodD5342,usedinthemodifiedconfigurationdescribedinSection9.TestresultsobtainedusingtheTaber-Typetesterasdescribedinthistestmethodhavebeenreportedtobeasmuchas40%differentfromthoseobtainedusingTestMethodD5342,andthistestmethodshallnotbeusedwhereTestMethodD5342isspecified.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
