【摘要】:Eithertestmethodmaybeusedtodeterminetheconcentrationsofdiethyleneglycolinethyleneglycol.Theconcentrationsofthecomponentsareobtainedbyanormalizationtechnique,basedontheassumptionthatallcomponentsareelutedundertheconditionsused.Ifallcomponentsshouldnotbeeluted,thecalculatedconcentrationswillbeerroneouslyhigh,withthemajorcomponentshowingthemostsignificantabsoluteerror.Sincewaterisnotdetectedbytheseprocedures,theresultsareonawater-freebasis.WatermaybedeterminedinaccordancewiththeapplicablesectionsofTestMethodsE202andthegaschromatographicresultscorrectedforthewaterconcentration.Bothtestmethodsarecurrentlyinindustrialuse.TestMethodAisthesimplerofthetwotestmethodsbecauseitdoesnotrequirethepreparationofderivativespriortogaschromatographicanalysis.TheresultsobtainedbyTestMethodAareslightlymoreaccuratethanthoseobtainedbyTestMethodB.Withrespecttoprecisionthereisnosignificantdifferencebetweenthetwotestmethods.TestMethodBhasbeenreportedtobesuitablealsofortheanalysisofawidevarietyofglycolethers,butthisuseisbeyondthescopeofthisstandard.1.1Thesetestmethodsareintendedprimarilyfortheanalysisofmixturesofethyleneanddiethyleneglycolsinwhichthediethyleneglycolconcentrationis0.1%orless.Bothtestmethodsshouldbeapplicabletohigherconcentrationsofdiethyleneglycol,butprecisionandbiasestimateshavebeenobtainedonlyfor0.05to0.1%diethyleneglycol.Note18212;TestMethodsE202describeanothergaschromatographictestmethodapplicabletomixturesofethylene,diethylene,andtriethyleneglycolsandmixturesofpropylene,dipropylene,andtripropyleneglycolsinwhichoneoftheglycolsistheprincipalcomponentandtheothertwoarepresentinconcentrationsof0.1to1%each.Note28212;TestMethodE2409describesanothergaschromatographictestmethodforthedeterminationofglycolimpuritiesinmono-,di-,tri-andtetraethyleneglycol(MEG,DEG,TEGandTeEG)intherangeof5to3000x03BC;g/g.1.2Thetwotestmethodsaregivenasfollows:
